Update from camp 1

We flew out to the Filchner ice shelf today and started skiing south! You will be able to track us at www.weberarctic.com as our positions are updated. Today was a little slow going with some soft snow and warm (for Antarctica....it's all relative) conditions. The Chilean version of Muscle Milk is not quite as good as the real thing, but otherwise our meals are very tasty. Nice job on the pate, Josee! Picture of our team just before flying today. Thought it would be good to have a "before" shot! The other picture is from the air as we flew to the coast. Antarctica is covered in ice. You could imagine the Rockies or Alps way back when their valleys were filled with ice. Amazing and humbling. Off to sleep to rise early and head further south!
