Union Glacier basecamp

We are now at our basecamp at the foot of Union Glacier in Antarctica. It"s stunningly beautiful. We flew in on the Ilyusion 76 shown in the picture. We pitched the tents, packed our sleds and went for a nice 2 hour ski. The new sleds are fantastic! They glide nice and smooth. This should really make a big difference over our 1300mi route. Tomorrow we plan to try out all the kites. If needed, it's easier to make repairs here at basecamp rather than finding out we have a problem at the pole when we start kiting. That's all for now. Happy to report that everyone is well and we're excited to be in Antarctica! Kathy [caption id="attachment_195" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA"][/caption]
