Polar Training And Consulting
Weber Arctic offers a range of polar training as preparation for North and South Pole expeditions, Arctic treks or simply for fun!
Courses are run at the Polar Centre in Alcove, Quebec and Yellowknife, NWT. Custom training can be arranged in any polar region around the world.
The Expedition Preparation Centre in Alcove has facilities for food and trip preparation, weight training, and also has access to hiking and ski trails and the beautiful Gatineau river.
Practical training includes: techniques for skiing, snowshoeing, navigation, sled packing and winter camping.
Special Resources
Dr Alex Kolodziej will give a first aid seminar with a focus on polar travel. Alex has traveled to both the North Pole and the Canadian High Arctic.
Richard has worked with the Ottawa High Performance Center for the last two years. The OHPC offers specialized weight training, physical therapy and nutrition. Specifically, Richard works with conditioning specialist John Zahab.
John Zahab is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a certified personal trainer through the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology. He has worked full-time in the strength and conditioning field for over ten years, and has had the opportunity to work with athletes from a broad spectrum of sports, including those competing and performing at the national and professional levels.
John developed his training philosophy to provide targeted training for each individual’s needs, based on a foundation of stability and control, functional movement, and balanced strength while working towards performance goals.
