Having the latest and greatest equipment has been part of every polar expedition all the way back to Franklin (yes, he was testing 20 hp steam-powered engines that each weighed 24 tonnes!) and before.

We are no exception. The coolest piece of gear we have are Recon Goggles. These goggles have a built-in GPS display that will give us speed, temperature, latitude and longitude. This will be a huge advantage while kite-skiing and navigating in bad light. No need to look down at the compass or to get out a hand held GPS. The battery can be recharged from one of our mini solar panels.

Because of the thin ozone layer we have to cover our faces completely. The fabric flap covers the mouth hole. Lift and insert food!

Ok, this is too cool. Those goggles are spectacular – and what a perfect opportunity to give them a real workout! Looking forward to your reports on how they perform!
